2007 In Review

Our season ended in 2006 on a high note, but the end of 2006 our own Colonel Snyder was struck down and hospitalized with a ruptured bowel. He began the year off on a successful recovery after surgery, and the CMF was headed for success as well. Our article about our flag preservation efforts was finally published in the Confederate Veteran, making all of us proud. We had our Camp of Instruction cancelled twice due to the weather, and the Colonel was missing from the field for our first event at McDowell. We had the Down The Valley event, which the CMF was sponsor for, which all seemed to really enjoy. The Colonel was out with us as well once again. The rest of our season up until September was pretty routine. The Colonel was again absent from the ranks until August while he recovered from his reconstructive surgery. Lt. Col. Utz, with help from the staff, filled in admirably in his absence. Come early September, we had the powerful September Storm event. Everyone involved with this event had a great time. Then came Cedar Creek in October, beautiful as always, and another good event for the CMF. Remembrance Day rolled along and in following our anniversary schedule we marched in September 1862 fashion. All in all, 2007 was a great year for the CMF, and 2008 is looking even better yet.
